During a trip to China in October 2019, our founder, Huay Ping, was profoundly disturbed to see the massive consumption of single-use plastics and paper cups. Most of the restaurants served drinks in paper or disposable plastic cups. It was as if glass wear never existed!
Being a zero-waster, Huay Ping brought her water tumbler everywhere during the trip. She refilled her tumbler whenever drinking water was available. She shopped using cloth bags and containers. Her behaviour piqued the curiosity of some of her tour mates. They wanted to know why didn’t she just take advantage of the convenience afforded to them through plastics. So Huay Ping began sharing about her zero-waste lifestyle. Amazingly, she influenced many of them to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle after the trip.

The group created the video below to advocate zero-waste travel. We are honoured that the video was featured in Zero Waste Malaysia’s official Instagram #JomZeroWaste story. Having our water tumbler with us all the time is essential. You will be surprised how many plastic bottles can be “saved” just from this small action. As Mahatma Gandhi said: “It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result…In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”

It required minimal effort to refill my tumbler.
每人一份力，世界恒常青。
Botol plastik bukan untuk saya, dan bukan untuk anda. Jom kita pelihara keindahan alam sekitar.
Saying no to plastic bottled water was the least I could do.
If more people would do the same, Mother Earth would remain beautiful forever.
