As we wrap up 2024, I find myself reflecting on the highs, the challenges, and the lessons learned throughout this incredible year. Here’s a look at the journey:
EDUCATION
This year offered me the privilege of giving back to education, reconnecting with my alma maters, and sharing my experiences:
01.
Sunway University
I was honored to serve as a panel judge for business proposal presentations in April. Four groups of students pitched their ideas for investment funding, and I enjoyed offering insights on business feasibility and financial planning.
02.
Taylor's University
In July, I was invited by Dr. Herda, a fellow CPA Australia member, to discuss the importance of accounting with her entrepreneurship students. Having been away from accounting practice for nearly a decade, I was grateful for the trust placed in me.
While accounting standards have evolved, the fundamentals remain crucial, as Warren Buffet aptly said, “Accounting is the language of business.” I emphasized the importance of owner-entity segregation and understanding non-cash flow transactions.
03.
Interview
In November, we welcomed a group of Sunway students to our office for an
engaging discussion on the use of digital technology in daily operations.
Revisiting both Sunway and Taylor's campuses after more than two decades was a nostalgic experience. I was stunned by the progress and innovations in both institutions and left inspired by their growth.
TEAM BUILDING
Teamwork has been both rewarding and challenging this year:
The first half of the year presented challenges, with one team member leaving without notice and another departing after only six days. Despite these hurdles, we focused on fostering a cohesive team dynamic, leading to greater stability from July onward.
We welcomed Zi Chong as our e-commerce specialist in August and Thivyah, our second intern, in September. Both brought fresh perspectives and energy to the team.
A proud milestone was achieving Shopee Preferred Mall status within just six weeks—a testament to our team’s dedication and hard work.
BUSINESS MILESTONES
2024 has been an exciting year for business growth:
Launching our partnership with Anantara Hotels in August was a highlight.
Seeing our products warmly received by guests was immensely rewarding.
Behind the scenes, we are diligently working toward achieving Halal and MESTI certifications
to meet the highest quality standards and expand our market reach.
PERSONAL GROWTH
This year, I embraced opportunities for growth, both physically and emotionally:
01. Fitness Journey
Undertaking 12 personal training sessions this year was a transformative experience that boosted both my physical health and personal discipline.
Participating in my second half marathon in July was another highlight, and I’m incredibly proud of this achievement. I hope to make it an annual tradition—and perhaps even take on two half marathons in 2025.
02. Social Milestone
In July, I was thrilled when my application for membership at the Royal Lake Club was approved. Joining this 134-year-old institution has been an investment in wellness and longevity. The club offers a wide range of fitness facilities and is located next to the Lake Gardens, my favorite running spot. Beyond fitness, the club has become a perfect venue for connecting with family and friends.
03. Family
November brought a personal triumph when my mom underwent a successful operation.
Her recovery has been nothing short of miraculous; within just three weeks, she was walking unassisted.
This moment of gratitude reminded me of the power of resilience and love.
Looking Ahead
2024 has been a year of learning and growth, filled with milestones that I will cherish. I’m deeply grateful for my team, my family, and everyone who has supported me along the way. As we look forward to 2025, I carry with me the lessons of resilience, adaptability, and gratitude.Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.
Warm regards,
Huay Ping
