MCO in Malaysia long lines in front pawn shops

Bringing light to those most in need

As Malaysians move to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) phase, we are heartbroken by images of long lines in front pawn shops circulated through social media. For many people, life was already hard before this COVID-19 pandemic. It cannot get any more real than this. A lot of us are stressed, anxious, fearful and uncertain. It's tempting to feel helpless and immobilized. For the past few weeks, we’ve countered that by connecting with our loved ones and people within the social enterprise community to help transform this fear and uncertainty into preparedness, problem-solving and purposeful action.

Thanks to you – we have managed to contribute about 600 meals to Kechara Soup Kitchen from our campaign from 29 Mar to 12 May 2020. Amazing!

Amidst the bleak news out there, we can continue to play our part, no matter how small. If we pull together as a community - of beautiful, big-hearted humans from various backgrounds, life situations and socioeconomic realities - we’ll make it through. Within this crisis lie opportunities for us to grow stronger, wiser and more resilient. So wherever you are right now, know that you are not alone. We wish you and loved ones well, and stay safe always.
